Although PROTOS is a relatively young company it has a proven record in European R&TD activities through the efforts of its R&D department and its founder Dr. Kimon Alexiou whose expertise of more than 20 years in Structural Mechanics has been instrumental in a number of EC projects.

Dr. Alexiou co-ordinated the:

• AMADEUS (BRPR-CT98-0688) project

and actively participated in the :

• SEANET (BRRT-CT98-5088)

• PLAN (BRRT-CT98-5020) Thematic Networks

• LARDAL Project (13471/99/NL/JG) of ESA - ESTEC

 and was a member of the DAMAS 2001 Scientific Committee.

Currently PROTOS is positioning themselves to actively participate in the Sixth Framework Package. PROTOS led a consortium for the submission of a Sixth Framework Package STREP Proposal, called SONIA.  

 PROTOS believe strongly in the need and the benefits for new Technology Development and Transfer adoption by the Industry. It has strong links with a number of Universities (Imperial College London, Manchester University, ETSIA Madrid, NTUA Athens, etc) and a number of leading companies (EADS-CASA, TIFSA, INTA, Eduardo Torroja Building Institute, in Spain, INTRACOM in Greece, LMS in Belgium, MTS France, ALENIA Space in Italy, etc).

PROTOS aim to work with Universities and with European Community funded projects in order to develop the needed Technology which then transfer to the Industry through consulting services and traditional  dissemination activities.
